Bar Girls A movie that involves love relationships between people of the same sex, but different races. JB
Chinese Box This movie is about an intercultural relationship between a Western man and a Chinese lady in Hong Kong around the time that possession of Hong Kong was returning to China from England in late 1996, early 1997. The movie's focus seems to be on struggle: the struggle of Hong Kong reverting back to China and the Westerner's struggle with illness and quest for love. [more] IIA

Double Happiness The main character, a Canadian-born Chinese girl pursues her independence and interracial relationship with a Caucasian byofriend, despite her father's disapproval. IIA
Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story This movie portrays some of the challenges that Bruce Lee, originally from China, encountered in adjusting to life in the States and in marrying an American woman. "Dragon" is a very positive movie in that Bruce Lee handles each situation very well and he and his wife display true love and support for one another. IIA
Family Thing, The (MGM/VA Release starring Robert Devall and James Earl Jones)
A movie about a man (Robert Devall), who although looks Caucasian, discovers that he is actually African-American, and tries to adjust to this realization with the help of his brother (James Earl Jones).

Flirting A movie made in Australia about an Australian boy and an African girl who fall in love. John Whitaker
Ghandi A truly inspiring movie about how Ghandi not only helped India gain its independence from England and become recognized as an official state, but also how he worked to unify Muslims and Hindus. Ghandi was a great revolutionary who tried to teach people of the world to love one another through non-violence. IIA

Greencard An interesting movie about a French man's effort to obtain a greencard and his relationship with an American woman. Truly a touching movie that will make you laugh and shed a tear or two. IIA
Guess Who's Coming to Dinner An excellent, heart-touching movie starring Katherine Hepburn, Spencer Tracy, and Sidney Poitier that deals with an interracial couple getting married in the 1960s in America. This 1967 classic gave a realistic portrayal of what issues an interracial couple and their families had (and still have) to deal with. [more]

Imitation of Life A "tragic mulatto" tale of a biracial child who decides to pass instead of taking pride in her heritage...not recommended. JC
Incredibly True Adventures Of Two Girls In Love, The Portrays a successful African-American and Caucasian lesbian couple...uplifting. JC
Joy Luck Club, The This movie has an Asian American female/Caucasian male marriage (although it falls apart at the end) JC
Jungle Fever Spike Lee's damaging movie portraying an unsuccessful relationship between an African-American and Italian-American. Not recommended. IIA
Lover, The (1991, French) Directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud and starring Tony Leung Ka-Fai, Jane March, and Frederique Meininger. Based on a novel by Marguerite Duras. The film is set in Vietnam during the French colonial period. A young French girl from a family whose fortunes have fallen on hard times has an affair with a rich Chinese merchant's son. Mississippi Masala Denzel Washington falls in love with an Indian woman. The two struggle to keep the relationship together despite disapproval from both families. IIA

Restaurant an interesting movie about friends and relationships. the story highlights an interracial relationship between the main actor and actress, but the focus is more about commitment in a relationship. surprising ending. stars adrien brody, elise neal, david moscow, malcolm jamal warner, and lauryn hill. Ruby Bridges a fascinating movie about the struggles and triumph of ruby bridges, the first african-american girl to attend a white school in the south in the early 1960's. definitely worth watching. stars chaz monet, penelope ann miller, and kevin pollak. [disney/1999/89min]

Snow Dogs Cuba Gooding Jr. stars as an affluent dentist in Miami who travels to Alaska to discover his real parents. In discovering that he is actually interracial (African-American mother and Caucasian father), he falls in love with a town local who is Asian.
